Healthier Or Just Healthier Sounding?

February 1st, 2013
Imagine you're an executive at a fast food restaurant chain and you've got a dilemma. Customers are looking for delicious, healthy food with high quality ingredients, but your boss wants you to keep costs down. How can you satisfy both your customers AND your boss?
Well Burger King has found a novel approach to this problem. Instead of improving the quality of ingredients in your food or making your food healthier, you can just change the name to make it sound better! This is exactly what Burger King has done with their fish sandwiches.
Late last year, Burger King retired the BK Big Fish Sandwich. This tartar sauce topped, fried fish sandwich packed more calories and more fat than a Big Mac from McDonald's. In it's place, Burger King now offers the Premium Alaskan Fish Sandwich. Sounds like an upgrade, doesn't it? After all, it's "premium" now!
Is the Premium Alaskan Fish Sandwich any healthier than the BK Big Fish Sandwich? Is it tastier? Are the ingredients higher quality? The answer to all of those questions is no, because the Premium Alaskan Fish Sandwich is simply the new name for the BK Big Fish Sandwich. It's still the same tartar sauce topped, fried fish, 590 calorie sandwich it ever was.
View the full nutrition facts for the Premium Alaskan Fish Sandwich.
Just because something sounds healthier doesn't mean it is, so check the nutrition facts before ordering.
